Summer Faves

It has been a hot minute since either of us have written a blog post. We hate that it has been so long but to be completely 100% honest, we are just trying to figure out how to balance everything — babies, husbands, work, Collins + Conley, and somehow get some sleep in there! We’re slowly but surely going to figure it out, but know that we still love this blog so much and plan to keep posting, we just don’t know what it will look like yet.

There have been quite a few things that I have really been loving this summer that I wanted to share with all of you!

Brixton Joanna Straw Hat

This super cute hat is the perfect hat for your beach day or lounging by the pool. I ordered it right before our trip to Austin and love it so much! I love wearing hats when I know I’ll be out in the sun all day because I want to make sure and protect my face from all the UV rays and this one allows you to do that & look super cute!

Albion Fit Swimsuit

Speaking of laying by the pool… I told Trey that for me to get in a swimsuit this year it had to be a really, really cute one to make me feel a little bit better about this postpartum bod being revealed to all. Albion Fit swimsuits are such amazing quality & will last you for years AND they are so so so pretty. Here’s my swimsuit top & swimsuit bottom that I got this year. They are a little bit on the pricey side but I 110% think they are worth it.

Artis Oval Brush

On a recent Sephora trek, Sarah & I both decided to invest in this Artis Oval Brush & I have to say it was one of the best purchases I’ve made in awhile. It makes your foundation look flawless & feels so soft on your skin! I’m a big fan and want more of these brushes.

Rose Quartz Face Roller

After a recent trip to Milk + Honey Spa at the Shops at Clearfork, I finally got a rose quartz face roller and boy oh boy do I love it. It is so cold on your skin when you start rolling and feels amazing. In fact, even if it had zero benefits for my skin, I would still do it because it feels so good. It’s perfect for the busy mom who just wants a minute or two of feeling pampered in her day.

Diff Eyewear Bella Sunglasses

I’ve shared these sunglasses that I got for Christmas before, but I have to share them again because I love them & get asked about them a lot!

Beautycounter Tint Skin

In the summer, I like having very, very light foundation for daily wear. It’s so blazing hot here that having anything too heavy would just feel miserable. I love Beautycounter’s Tint Skin because it’s lightweight, moisturizing, and provides just enough coverage to give you an even skin tone.

Charlotte Tilbury Healthy Glow

OK, this stuff is my new mom survival tip #1. I haven’t gotten to spend hardly any time at the pool because Collins can’t quite handle this Texas sun yet & so I’m looking preeeettttty white. I put on this Healthy Glow before I put on my foundation and it provides just a little bit of color and I love it. It’s unisex & adapts to your skin color to provide just the perfect amount of warmth. I’m a big, big fan.

Briogeo Products

I had always heard of the brand “Briogeo” but hadn’t tried any of their products. On the above mentioned Sephora trek (where we got the Artis Oval Brush) I got a few hair products that my hair was really needing (the postpartum hair struggle is real). I got the Fairwell Frizz Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Creme (longest name ever) because I had been meaning to get a heat protectant for an embarrassing long time and I have really liked it. I have absolutely loved the Don’t Despair, Repair! Strength + Moisture Leave In Mask. My hair has been really dry and almost brittle since having Collins and this has helped out so much. Both of these products smell amazing & I will definitely be purchasing again.

Native Deodorant

I have put off the natural deodorant thing for so long. I just didn’t believe that it was going to work for me, but I have been unbelievably impressed by Native. It is holding up even in the 100 degree heat of Texas so it has made me a true believer. I have been using the Cucumber Mint scent and Trey has used a few different scents, but I really loved the Eucalyptus Mint flavor that he used first!

Have you tried any of these products? What are you loving right now? Let us know on our most recent Instagram post or in the comments below.

Collins' Birth Story

If you’ve been following us throughout my pregnancy, you know that we were kept on our toes by little Collins all pregnancy long! In my third trimester, after an admission to the hospital, I got diagnosed with gestational hypertension & started having to see a high-risk doctor in addition to my midwives.

Conley's 3 Month Update and Postpartum Update

Conley's 3 Month Update and Postpartum Update

I’m trying not to say it too much,  but it really is 100% true, being Conley’s mama keeps getting better and better. Conley is the sweetest baby, and I am loving watching her grow and change and take in the world around her (also simultaneously crying because it’s happening all too fast!). I can’t believe we are officially out of the “4th trimester” and my little teeny girl is no longer a newborn.

Budget Friendly Valentine's Date Ideas

Budget Friendly Valentine's Date Ideas

Both of our families are sticking to a strict budget in February, also known as “No Spend February”. With that in mind, we wanted to share some ideas for some very budget friendly ideas to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your significant other! Here are a few ideas to get your creative wheels spinning.

Conley's 2 Month Update

Conley's 2 Month Update

Well the first of month of Conley’s life we were so proud that we had made it a month. She was still alive, we were alive and we were kind of getting a hang of this whole parenting thing. While we know we still don’t know exactly what we’re doing, the second month it sure does feel like we’ve got a pretty good thing going. We are loving being her parents and how interactive Conley is now.

A Few Of Our Favorite Things Lately

A Few Of Our Favorite Things Lately

We always love a solid recommendation from a friend & there are so many things that we have really been loving lately that we wanted to share with you. There are a lot of different things in a lot of different categories so hopefully there’s a little something for everyone!

Stocking Stuffer Ideas For Her

Trey & I exchanged stockings early this year because I included some golf things in his stocking and he since he was going golfing today, I wanted him to be able to put some of his gifts to good use! Since we exchanged early, I thought I would share what he got me since he totally killed the gift giving game this year & I know there are many of you who are scrambling to find last minute gift ideas!

The Mingling of Joy & Sorrow During the Holidays

The Mingling of Joy & Sorrow During the Holidays

Christmas is a season filled with joy, celebration, merriment, and festivities. It can also be a time filled with grief, sorrow, and longing. More often than not, it is filled with all of the above at the exact same time.

Thanksgiving Meal Cookbooks & Resources

While we both may or may not have our Christmas trees up, that doesn’t mean that we aren’t still so excited for Thanksgiving next week! Last year, my parents had sold their house and were in an apartment while their new house was being built so we hosted Thanksgiving at our house. It was honestly so much fun!

This year, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with my family on Wednesday, Trey’s family on Thursday, and some of our friends on Friday! While I won’t be planning a whole Thanksgiving dinner on my own, I will definitely be helping my mom cook & will have to plan a little ahead for the potluck dinner on Thursday since I have so many dietary requirements.

A lot of the dishes that we make at my family’s Thanksgiving are the same year after year, but we always like to add in a few new things here & there! Here are a few of my favorite cookbooks & blogs that I use to create Thanksgiving dishes…

Against All Grain Celebrations.jpg

I love all of Against All Grain’s recipes! She has quite a few on her blog & even more in her three (almost four) cookbooks. Her third cookbook, Celebrations has Paleo friendly recipes for each and every holiday & we have made many of these recipes! They are all so good. If you happen to have special dietary needs or are just trying to stay on track with your clean heating during the holidays, this is an amazing resource.

Southern Living November 2018.jpg

You truly can’t ever go wrong with Southern Living’s recipes. No one does comfort food or holiday food like the South. Obviously I can’t have a lot of the recipes that are found in the magazine, but I love to play around with them and use substitutes to get as close to the real thing as possible! Along these same lines is The Pioneer Woman. We made her Macaroni & Cheese last year (we made it gluten free of course!) and it was SO good. I may have to sneak just a couple bites of dairy and enjoy it again this year!

Once you’ve landed on the recipes you are going to make, I love to use Day Designer’s Holiday Menu Planner & Grocery List to try to keep things organized!

Are you hosting Thanksgiving at your house this year? Already overwhelmed with figuring out your cooking schedule and making sure you have enough bakeware to pull it all off? I know I was there. I’m not type A by nature and organization doesn’t always come naturally to me, however, I’m definitely motivated to be organized by avoiding stress and figuring out how to have the most fun and enjoyment out of the day. Last year, something that was really helpful for me was to take out all the bakeware that I thought I would need and to use sticky notes to label what each dish would be used for. You can also add the general time that you need to begin making that item! It can help keep everything in order!

What are your favorite Thanksgiving recipes? What do you use to keep yourself organized? Tell us all your secrets below!

37 Week Bumpdate and What's In My Hospital Bag

37 Week Bumpdate and What's In My Hospital Bag

I can’t even believe that I have a bag under the desk in my bedroom that I’m taking to the hospital when I go into labor. It seems a little surreal that the time is actually almost here, and that before we know it we will be on our way to the hospital to meet our baby! I am now 37 weeks and a couple days, and after this week I feel like it truly could be any day, so I am preparing myself by trying to keep the house clean and keeping a bag for Kyle and I packed so that we are ready to go.

Baby L's Baby Shower!

Although our shower was a couple weeks ago, I am still reflecting on just how special that day really was to me. I wanted to share with you all the beauty that was my shower and also just share my thankfulness to everyone who has been loving on me and my baby girl so well and supporting our little family.
