Simply Sisters Co DFW Christmas Bucket List

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Dallas/Fort Worth… even if it doesn’t always feel like it outside! Christmas time is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love the lights on the homes, the music playing in all of the stores and I love all the fun activities especially the ones including hot chocolate. The Christmas season truly is magical and I love genuine joy it seems to bring when the season changes. We not only love spending time with our families and friends by going to holiday parties and events, there are so many great things to do in and around our city this time of year. This list isn’t inclusive of everything there is to do in DFW, but includes some of my favorites!

  1. Drive around the Highland Park Christmas Lights, preferably in a horsedrawn carriage!

  2. Walk around Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth, I’m going to recommend eating dinner at Reata when you’re down there as well for a real Texan Christmas dinner.

  3. Visit the ICE at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine! The ICE is full of 2 million pounds of carved ice---brr! You get to wear some really big blue parkas that will keep you warm in the negative nine degree temperature, but we also recommend bundling up and wearing some warm socks. The theme of the ICE is different every single year, and the theme this year is “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. My favorite part is the crystal clear nativity at the very end. It is absolutely beautiful.

  4. Go ice skating at the Galleria around the nation’s tallest indoor Christmas tree. We grew up going ice-skating at the Galleria and it is still one of my very favorite Christmas traditions in the DFW area. They also have special events and tree lightings if you want to coordinate your visit around one of those!

  5. Walk around downtown Grapevine, TX the Christmas Capital of Texas! Downtown Grapevine has the cutest restaurants and shops and walking around the downtown in December is just so dreamy.

  6. Visit the 12 Days of Christmas at the Arboretum... fortunately it lasts longer than 12 days! It’s open through January 7th, 2018

  7. Drive through the Christmas Tour of Lights in Farmers Branch! The Tour of Lights is a drive-thru animated display that will amaze you with over a half a million twinkling lights and runs from November 24th - December 30th. This holds a special place in our hearts as Trey proposed to Ashley here 4 years ago.

  8. If you purchase a real Christmas tree every year and by chance you haven’t gotten yours yet, visit Wall’s Family Christmas Tree Farm. It is a little bit of a drive for most people in the metroplex, but totally worth it! We had our Christmas pictures taken there this year!

  9. Walk through or drive by Addison’s Vitruvian Lights! Vitruvian Park is one of the most beautiful and colorful light displays in all of DFW. You can take a walk in the park or enjoy it from your car through January 1st!

  10. If you are wanting an outdoor ice skating experience, visit Panther Island Ice! Panther Island Ice is a great way to enjoy the idea of outdoor ice skating in our Texas climate, and it’s located at the Coyote Drive In, so you can make a whole evening out of it by catching a movie! The ice rink will be open 7 days a week until January 15, 2018.

We hope that despite the busyness of the Christmas season you are able to enjoy time with your loved ones and hopefully this list will give you some ideas of things you can do here in DFW!
