What does your ideal day/night look like?
My ideal day would consist of cool weather, quiet time with Jesus on the back porch, my family & friends, college football (go hogs!), a cute fall outfit (of course!), lots of good food, games, and wine.
Why did you want to start the blog?
There were several reasons I wanted to start this blog. First of all, I wanted to work on a project with Sarah. I absolutely love being her sister & loved the idea of getting to do this blog together. We wanted to be able to document our lives and share what’s going on, what we are learning, and what we are loving in an authentic way that would serve as an encouragement to other women. Simply Sisters Co. has definitely been an exercise in stepping out of our comfort zones. There have been A LOT of fears and insecurities that we have been tempted to let hold us back. We were both tempted to believe that we were not capable of doing this. When we looked around, there were so many other people that already had blogs that have incredible content and when we compared ourselves to them, we felt like we weren’t adequate. However, we felt like this was something the Lord was continually bringing us back to, so we decided to try our best to put our blinders on and go for it. As our name implies, we are simply sisters sharing our lives and passions with others in the hopes that would encourage those who read it.
What are three books you currently recommend?
Harry Potter. Always.
What are three of your favorite things right now?
All of the Against All Grain Cookbooks. If you are gluten-free or follow a paleo diet (or if you just love really good food), these are all a must-have!
Episode 1 of the Journeywomen podcast by Hunter Beless. I have loved every single one of the episodes of the Journeywomen podcast, but Hunter’s conversation with Carrie Langemeier on forgiveness is something I constantly come back to. The Lord has used it to bring about change in my marriage and friendships. I definitely recommend giving it a listen!
Davines’ OI All in One Milk. It makes my hair feel so unbelievably soft & smells incredible. It can be used on all hair types to help soften, detangle, and control frizz. You’re welcome for the recommendation.
What is one spiritual practice that has positively impacted your spiritual growth?
Scripture memory. I have always wanted to grow in this practice & it is something I have been more intentional about in 2017. I want to be able to recall scripture to mind throughout my day and in all situations, and the only way to do that is to memorize it and “hide it in your heart”. I definitely want to continue to grow in this area in 2018.
What is your favorite thing about your husband?
Aside from his incredible good looks, right? My very favorite thing about my husband is how much he loves the Lord and points me to Him. I also love how he has a knack for calming me down when I’m stressed, how he serves me so well, and how hard he works at making our marriage strong. Did I also mention that he’s super hot?
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST Pet Peeve?
Misophonia (a strong dislike or hatred of specific sounds) is definitely my number one pet peeve. Specifically, I cannot stand mouth noises -- smacking & heavy breathing will send me over the edge.
Also, heavy PDA in church. C’mon people, no one needs to have their fingers in anyone else’s hair during church. Ever.
