If you follow us on Instagram, you know that at the end of August, we (and our husbands) took a vacation to 30A! It was a baby moon for Kyle & Sarah and a 30th birthday trip for me (and also secretly kind of a baby moon for Trey and I, but we hadn’t announced yet)!
I had not been to the beach since our honeymoon, over 4 years ago and with feeling super sick and run down, I could not wait to get out of town and just go lay on a beach, read a book, and do absolutely nothing. This trip was exactly what the doctor ordered!
The only thing we wished we had done differently on this trip was to stay longer! Since the boys work together, it is hard for them to get off together for long periods of time and because of that, we basically made this trip a long weekend! We left early morning on Thursday and returned in the evening on Monday.
If you are wanting to go on a trip to Florida, we highly recommend this area & are going to share some of our favorites from the trip below!
Where to stay…
We stayed at The Pointe on 30A and would hands-down, highly recommend staying here! We rented a two bedroom condo for our trip and it was absolutely perfect for us. The Pointe is a boutique, hotel-style resort that is gorgeous and has incredible amenities! The rooms were clean, and nicely decorated with a full kitchen and really big bathrooms. When you were at the pool, you felt like you were at a high-end resort in Mexico. Plus, they have a shuttle that takes you directly to the beach, which is only about a 3 minute drive away. It was the most convenient way that I’ve ever gotten to a beach. They also have free beach chairs and umbrellas for guests at the beach which is so nice if you haven’t been able to bring yours & don’t really want to buy some just for a few days. We seriously can’t recommend this place enough & hope to go back very soon!
If a condo isn’t your thing or you have a large group coming and would rather rent a house, we’ve heard that Rent30A is an excellent resource for booking your rental!
Also, the gorgeous boutique hotel, The Pearl, in downtown Rosemary Beach, which we’ll talk about a little more in a minute, would be an amazing option if you love a beautiful boutique hotel!
Where to eat…
We ate at some incredible restaurants while we were in 30A! Here are our recommendations!
Big Bad Breakfast
Big Bad Breakfast is actually on the property of The Pointe, which was super convenient for us! The back patio faces The Pointe’s pool & the food is delicious! We had breakfast here, but they are also open for lunch. We all got different things, but everyone said theirs was delicious & the boy’s loved their mimosas!
The Pearl — The Havana Beach Rooftop Lounge
Our next stop, while waiting for our room to be ready, was to downtown Rosemary Beach, where we just had to stop off at The Pearl for a drink (non-alcoholic for Sarah & I, of course)! The Pearl Hotel is a gorgeous boutique hotel with black-and-white striped awnings and gorgeous terraces that make it picture-perfect! The Havana Beach Rooftop Lounge has a great view of the The Pearl’s pool & the ocean.
The Red Bar
The Red Bar in Grayton Beach, Florida is a must-visit if you are in the area! We got to go to The Red Bar with our friends Britton & Caitlin who were also in 30A. For dinner, they have a very simple menu with only a handful of options and you can’t go wrong with any of them — everyone was extremely happy with their meal choices! So good. If you go during lunch, they have a few more options & I’m sure they are all delicious as well.
George’s at Aly’s Beach
First of all, Aly’s Beach is the cutest area ever! All of the buildings are white with a lot of black, grey, and green accents. They are still in the process of developing this area and I can’t wait to see it once it’s finished because it will be gorgeous! George’s is a nicer restaurant that we went to for our “fancy” double date night out. Because of the time of year that we went, we did not have to wait, but in peak season our waiter told us that there is a two-hour wait almost immediately when the restaurant opens so you know it has to be good!
After our dinner at George’s, we headed back to downtown Rosemary Beach to get chocolate fondue and dessert at La Crema Tapas & Chocolate. Can you go wrong with chocolate fondue? I don’t think you can. It was all really good!
On our last morning, we had breakfast at Donut Hole, which is a bakery and a diner all in one! The boys got lots of donuts, which they loved, and the breakfast was delicious!
Five Daughters Bakery Airstream 30A
Before we caught our flight home, we did a little shopping and came across Five Daughters Bakery Airstream. It was a dream come true for me because they did not have any donuts I could eat at Donut Hole, but Five Daughters has Paleo donuts! I was so happy & it was delicious!
When should I go…
We actually ended up going at the very best time of year — the week after school started and before Labor Day! There weren’t any crowds, we didn’t have to wait in any lines & it was perfect. If you don’t have kiddos in school (or you’re fine with pulling them out… we won’t tell!) then we would highly recommend going during this time. Honestly though, even if it was more crowded we would have still absolutely loved it!
We hope this is helpful in your next trip to 30A! We are hoping to make a trip back next year (with two babes in tow!), so we’ll be able to share even more after our next trip!
