I don’t know about you, but the summer to fall transition is the hardest living in the great state of Texas. Fall and winter clothes are my absolute favorites, so as soon as they bust out the PSL, I am ready for boots and oversized sweaters, BUT the weather is just not quite there yet. However, I hope you’ve checked the forecast if you’re in DFW because it looks hopeful that the temperatures are about to start cooperating! This year being pregnant in the summer to fall transition I wanted to make my life a little bit easier by buying some staple items in the summer that make me feel good, and that I also know will be easy items to transition and wear in the fall as well. I’m sharing with you all some of my favorite ways to take some of your staple outfits and give them that fall look where you won’t be too hot, but also you can dress for your favorite time of year!
Add a cardigan. You can add a light cardigan to just about any dress or your favorite basic tee and instantly you have a fall style. I suggest buying one or two cardigans that you love and that will go with most of your outfits so that you can make a couple different outfits out of each one. Also I’m all about adding a cute cardigan to your favorite distressed denim shorts and t-shirt look.
Booties. Although I am so ready for knee length and over the knee boots later this season, booties are an easy transition to fall. What’s even better in Texas is open toed booties! You can wear these with dresses, jeans, and even shorts if you’re wanting to dress up your denim shorts.
Hat. One of my favorite fall accessories is a good hat! I got this Brixton hat from Nordstrom this year and it is already my favorite fall transition item. Also, how easy is it to throw on a hat when you’re living on dry shampoo and coffee at the end of the week?! This is such a great transition item that you will wear all throughout the winter as well.
Nail polish. This is most definitely the easiest one on the list! If you know me well at all then you know I love my nail polish. I’ve always loved changing my nail polish color with the seasons, and well if the weather isn’t quite cooperating you can always make your hands look happy with a nice fall color. I love using deep reds and purples, dark grey and sometimes even a really solid black. I know that we can’t always make the weather do what we want it to, but we can easily and pretty inexpensively change our nail color with the season.
I hope this post gives you some great resources and that you enjoy dressing for the best season of the whole year. I might be a little biased but crisp air, pumpkin everything, oversized sweaters and college football are enough to make my heart soar and give me all the happy feelings.
